Week 6
Final week, and I've made a couple of changes. I removed a line of text from the island poster that felt a bit unnecessary. I've added a postage stamp and some texture as well, just to amp up the postcard vibe. The John Key poster has remained largely the same, although I've changed the font on the strapline. These are now my final posters, and I'm pretty happy with them. While they are visually quite different, I think they convey the same message of exclusivity and inequality of wealth in New Zealand.

Week 5
After having another critique, I'm happy with the concepts of both my posters, and I'm now working to fine tune them and make them more effective.
Thanks to advice from Donald, I've attempted to make the design less busy by removing the confusing looking pikes on the island, and instead adding sharks to show it's a hard place to reach. I've also made the "greetings from" text a lot larger, and added a strapline to provide more context.
I've made changes to this design as well, which is long overdue as it has remained pretty stagnant as a concept. I toned down the woven looking texture in the background, and made it smaller so it's not so obvious. Similarly to the postcard concept above, I've also added a strapline and some more text down the bottom just to make the issue a bit more clear.

Development and changes
As I'm fairly happy with my where my John Key concept is, I'm feeling like my champagne poster is too different of a concept. While the topic is the same, both the art style and theme is very different. I've decided to go back to one of my original concepts, the one with John key atop the beehive, to hopefully create a better link between the two posters.

I've gone the same route in terms of style, with the retro travel poster vibe, but hopefully this design is more in line with the first poster.

More development
I've decided to develop the champagne idea that was one of my initial concepts. I've tried to make it in the style of maybe a 50s wine ad or even a travel poster.

Week 3
This week we had our interim critique, where we got to look at the other stream's efforts. I've got 4 digital concepts at this point, but in our table groups we decided on one concept to share with the other streams. My chosen concept was the illustrative John Key piece. I got really great responses from the other class, so it's nice to know that the concept is working, but I didn't really get any constructive criticism, which might've been good to know if there's anything I can change.
